Gdansk to Kaliningrad prep

Hello.

I'm preparing to do this bus trip in early January. Can anyone offer insight to the transport options I'll find when I arrive in Gdansk? Can I find a website for the bus companies? And when I arrive in Kaliningrad finding a decent currency exhange to get a few rubles for a taxi to my hotel?

However arrival into Kaliningrad Bus Station you will find no currency options in this area. I would suggest getting a small amount of RUB in Gdansk then change your currency in a bank in the city centre. Ensure you have new dollar bills to transfer. You think I can find some RUB in Gdansk? For now I have plenty of clean $50 and $100s but my concern is getting to my hotel from the bus station as I've never been to Kaliningrad.

And working on a plan for Tinkoff bank card soon after I arrive.

Yes thats potentially a problem as taxi ordered via app and would only take RUB anyway. Lots of places in Central Gdansk to change your dollars to RUB. Ask your hotel would they arrange a taxi pick up then pay them in RUB

phoebe You were right, plenty of currency exchange options in old town Gdansk for RUB but I sure hope the exchange rate is better inside Russia.

I'm afraid not, true dollar price today is around 110 RUB for 1 Dollar, you would be lucky to get 100 RUB from most Russian Banks.

phoebe I'll be okay with that. The best I could find in Gdansk was about 80 to 1. Oh well.
