Oh goodness, the information required for multiple entry visa (UK)

Am close to pulling my hair out/abandoning the idea of travel to Russia with the information required to be completed for the UK Multiple Entry Visa (but really want to go so am plodding my way through). Some of the information required goes back decades and is requiring me to contact third parties to get it - but that's likely a consequence of my age more than anything else...

Anyhow. enough of the complaining, I have once specific query. So the application form for the Multiple Entry Visa requires you to include details of not just your current passport but, it would seem, your previous three passports. Does anyone know if this is what it is actually saying?

So the question is: "Is it your first British passport?". And the Explanatory Note at the side states: "If You obtained British passport earlier, You have to indicate information of up to three previous passports. Each passport should be indicated in each block of fields. To enter the next one use “Add” button".

So is this saying that I have to include my three previous passports? If so, this would mean I have to go back and source passports from over thirty years ago, which I no longer have, only my current and previous passport.

PS The listing of all travel in the last 10 years is a killer (for the frequent traveller) - but that is what it is

Same for me. Just have to bite the bullet and do it. Tracking down stuff from 30 years ago seems useless but thats the game you have to play. I'll let someone from the UK answer your specific question but seems you are correct. I had to go find all my previous Russia visas from years ago. Do what you can so it looks like youve made the effort. They won't be researching anyone's past, just creating a profile as complete as they can I assume. As for the list of countries visited, I put about 20 countries having visited over 5x that. If you've never been to Russia I'll just say it will be worth it.

I do need to list my previous three passports going back decades - that's now been confirmed.

Also, when filling in the last 10 years' travel, I was delighted to find on the online application that you couldn't not add more than 10 due to the restriction of number of fields. However, when I contacted the Visa Centre, they said just to add an extra sheet of paper to list all those countries

As I have said previously I have travelled on the multiple entry visa on this very visa issued from this very office in London. The question you are both talking about is easily resolved, you just need to list the number of your previous British Passport and use the drop down menu to select the reason for change( I ran out of pages so I selected that). On the question of countries visited just list the last ten with dates of travel, you can use the stamps in your passport to confirm. I have never been refused this multi entry visa for the last three years.

phoebe The issue is I only have passport details for current and previous passport, not the other two from over 17 years ago (hence asking the question). Time to contact the passport office! I'll get there eventually

phoebe I'm American and recently applied at a consulate and handed in a supplemental list on a separate piece of paper of forty additional foreign trips in the last ten years. The visa officer who took my application looked the list over briefly and handed it back to me. I think they really just want you to list the last ten visits or whatever fits in the online form.
